ZONE ENSEIGNES + ÉCLAIRAGE was established in 1963 when Maurice Lacroix acquired a company then named Enseignes Gérard and set up shop in a modest garage in Montreal’s east end. This is how Enseignes Gérard Néon, a company specialized in sign production, was founded.
After one year of hard work, fortune smiles on Maurice Lacroix when he met Sam Steinberg, owner of the famous supermarket chain.
At the beginning of their business relationship Steinberg hired Lacroix to carry out the maintenance of his signs but soon selected him as his supplier of choice. In 1965 Mr. Lacroix rented 1500 square-foot premises to meet the needs of his main client. Two years later, he acquired an industrial building in the borough of Saint-Michel.
In the late 1970s Enseignes Gérard Néon’s business was rapidly growing and employed 18 persons. Several important businesses and organizations were using the company’s services, including Pascal, Dominion, Montreal Airport (Dorval), Galeries Rive Nord, etc.
In early 2000s Enseignes Gérard Néon adopted the most recent technology, replacing progressively neon by LED lighting. Maxime, Lacroix’s son, joined the team and became Director of Operations in 2006, and the company’s sole owner in 2008.
Since then the company has experienced steady and significant growth. In addition to signs and exterior signage, the company also offers lighting services. Given its rapid growth, the company is now established in Blainville where some 20 employees and collaborators work diligently to satisfy clients who benefit from the dynamism of a new generation of top executives.
From Enseignes Gérard Néon to ZONE ENSEIGNES + ÉCLAIRAGE
In 2014 Maxime Lacroix implements another change to better reflect the company’s modernization and the new technologies used within the industry.
Enseignes Gérard Néon becomes ZONE ENSEIGNES + ÉCLAIRAGE and has a brand new logo. The new company’s name has a young and modern feel that reflects its leadership position within its field of expertise. The name may have changed but the company values inherited from Maurice Lacroix are carried on by his son Maxime and his team: always offer clients the best service and products on the market, and work with the utmost dedication and skills.
